How does the coaching work?

I use a blend of tools and techniques including Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), Hypnosis, Time Line Therapy®, Eye Movement Desensitisation and EFT. I can also incorporate health and nutrition coaching if required.

 I take a whole person approach and the coaching is tailored according to individual need.

Will I have to talk about personal issues?

NLP coaching is primarily ‘content free’. This means the client does not have to share information about their problem in great detail for it to be effective. It’s more important to understand the structure of the problem, how the client ‘does’ it.

We do take a personal history in order to understand the problem in the context of the client’s life generally and to understand their model of the world. In this way we can reveal the underlying problem and deal with it.

It helps to share all the issues you require assistance with in order to resolve them.

How is it different from counselling?

It doesn’t involve re-experiencing and examining the past, which can easily further embed the problem by reliving it. NLP, focuses on the structure and process of how the client thinks and behaves, identifying solutions that bring positive results in the future.

NLP presupposes that each person is doing the best they can with the resources they have available in that moment. If we don’t like the outcomes we are getting, then using NLP can help us get the results we desire.

What is NLP and how does it work?

NLP stands for ‘Neuro Lingusitic Programming’ and has been around since the 1970’s. It is the practice of understanding how people organise their thinking, feeling, language and behaviour to produce the results they do.

NLP gives us insights into how our thinking patterns can affect every aspect of our lives.

It looks at the way in which we think and process our thoughts (Neuro), the language patterns we use (Linguistic) and our behaviours (Programming) and how these interact to have a positive (or negative) effect on us as individuals.

NLP works on both the conscious and unconscious level and tackles limiting values and beliefs, so that we can motivate ourselves into action.

NLP techniques can bring about a positive change in you and others. It can be used for personal development and for success in business.

Isn’t NLP about manipulating others?

It is a set of tools, and as with all tools, people decide how they use them. I work with clients to help them to make positive changes for themselves and others.

What is Time Line Therapy® and how does it work?

In NLP the Time Line is a term used to describe the way we internally represent time – our past and future. Time Line Therapy® was created by Dr. Tad James and has be used since the 1980s by thousands of people including psychiatrists, psychologists, marriage and family counsellors, social workers, life and business coaches and athletic coaches.

It is a process that allows you to effectively remove the unwanted ‘negative’ emotion from past Significant Emotional Events (SEE’s), identify positive resources and  install positive beliefs for your future.

Does hypnosis mean I will lose self-control?

When you experience hypnosis, you are always fully in control and don’t have to take on any of the suggestions if you don’t want to or you don’t think it is to your benefit. You are always able to bring yourself out of the hypnotic state should you choose. Hypnosis is unlikely to work if you decide you don’t want to be hypnotised.

What do I have to do as part of our work together?

You will be asked to share all issues on which you require assistance with to help resolve them. You will be asked to commit time to the sessions and any tasks set in between.

How are you different from other coaches?

I have training and experience in NLP, hypnosis and Time Line Therapy™ plus nutrition and personal training. I also have extensive knowledge and experience of yoga, effective breathing  and various other therapeutic techniques. I work with the person as a whole.

I have experienced trauma in my personal life, with the loss of my two brothers and father in short succession of each other. I understand the resources needed to be resilient in life and business.

Why is resilience important?

Resilience keeps you going. Resilience enables you to move forward positively after setbacks, trauma and challenging events. Resilience enables you to manage change with greater ease and achieve success both in business and in life.
